For weeks after watching that one Lysol commercial about the germs commonly found on household surfaces– in your bed, in the bathtub, on the kitchen counter– I imagined all the little microbes crawling around the items I made use of on a daily basis. I used many an antibacterial wipe. Of course, my germaphobe phase did pass. I do live in New York City after all, and living in fear of germs would drive you insane—or at least keep you off the subway. However, the reality is that we live in a world where fears of the swine flu, germs, and bacteria are all over the media and ever present in our daily lives. There’s no merit to going crazy over it, but anything that can give you a little peace of mind without too much difficulty is a definite plus. The Belkin Washable Mouse is a great mix of utility and innovation in a stylish and amazingly easy to clean little package.

This is a pretty basic, little optical mouse. It allows you to scroll vertically and horizontally (on Vista), works on pretty much any surface— wood, fabric, glass, your kid’s homemade placemat. Wherever you are, you can connect this via USB and you’re ready to go. It’s not quite as responsive as the run-of-the-mill mouse that comes with your standard desktop, but it’s cute, is spill resistant, and easy to clean. If you’re tough on computer peripherals and want something that will endure your rough-and-tumble life, this mouse could be a great choice
If you’re looking for a reliable mouse with some unique features, the Belkin Washable Mouse could be just the ticket. Not to mention, it cleans up well. Better than your last boyfriend or girlfriend did at holiday dinner, that’s for sure. If cleanliness is something you’re concerned about, why not give this mouse a try?

Take a look at the Belkin Washable Mouse on our sponsor’s website at: http://www.asavings.com/p-15225-belkin-f5l007-washable-mouse-in-brown.aspx and satisfy your inner germaphobe. Come on, you know you want to.

There are so many iPod cases for many different uses, storage, sport, casual or heavy protection. The Belkin clear silicone model is a case that’s well suited for day-to-day use while moving throughout your daily life. Though I would not suggest it for sports use, however it’s a terrific case for storing your iPod in a backpack, pocket, or jacket.

The case, as its name indicates, comes in a myriad of colors, soft silicone that the iPod rests and fits snuggly inside providing a tight fit also a maximum grip when holding in your hand. The case has openings for the headphone jack, hold button, and dock connector.

The Silicone is thick, giving the case and iPod combination both a decent heft and a sense of security, the case provides sub- par reinforcement against drops. The silicone cases, come in different colors for the varying iPod models 20-30 gigs. The spectrum is from sky blue to midnight black, many colors for varying personalities and styles!

That aside, if you’re planning to use your iPod on the go and need some sturdy protection, the Belkin Color silicone and iPod Nano leather case is a good bet.

Ever want to listen to your iPod over your car stereo? The Belkin TuneBase FM Transmitter is a clever little gadget that enables you to do just that – by broadcasting your iPod wirelessly over your car radio. It plugs into the cigarette lighter slot for powering, and its flexible steel gooseneck not only allows you to position your iPod for best convenience — but also doubles as the transmitting antenna. To ensure a snug fit for most iPod models, nine different adaptor trays are also included.

The fact that I don’t own a car wasn’t going to prevent me from using a TuneBase — especially when they can be found brand new for well under $15. I customized my TuneBase by incorporating a 6 Volt power source with 4 AA batteries, ditching the gooseneck in favor of a more powerful antenna, then transplanting everything into a plastic casing from an old battery charger.

Its operation is simple. Just tune your radio between stations, then navigate using the TuneBase’s arrow keys to match the transmission frequency. You can store a frequency for future access by pressing and holding key 1, 2, 3, or 4. (An audible beep will sound when a preset gets stored; the presets are recalled by momentarily pressing a key again.) Five levels of transmission volume can be accessed by pressing and holding 1 and 2, then navigating with the arrow keys.

A choice of transmitting in Stereo or Mono is accessed by simultaneously pressing and holding keys 1 and 3. Now I can enjoy listening to my iPod through any of hundreds of vintage transistor radios I’ve rescued over the years from thrift shops, flea markets, and the sidewalks of New York. If, like me, you almost always listen to music from the 60s and 70s – then it can be the next best thing to time traveling!

The little gismo is available at our sponsor’s website at http://www.digitalfotoclub.com/product-features.asp?id=964670084
