The Eva-Dry E-500 Renewable Wireless Mini Dehumidifier is an easy to use, powerful way to fight dampness in small areas. It’s as simple as removing the device from its packaging and setting or hanging it in a damp/humid place. You may then go about your business while it goes to work. Recommended for use in boats, safes, RVs, closets, and other areas up to 500 cubic feet, it is an excellent way to protect your clothes, valuables, documents, etc. from the damaging effects of mold, mildew, and moisture damage.

The E-500 is filled with a non-toxic, odorless silica get that absorbs moisture from the air, and changes color to indicate when it is saturated. The gel starts out blue when it is dry, and slowly turns pink as up to 8-10 ounces of moisture is absorbed. Once full, the dehumidifier can be renewed by plugging it into any power outlet for just a few hours. While plugged in, a built-in heater gently releases water vapor from the unit. When the moisture is completely evaporated, the silica gel turns blue again, and it is ready to go back to work. It is 100% renewable and has a 10 year life span!

I’ve used this product on a leaky car trunk for the past two months and was quite impressed with the results. Ease of use is certainly a very attractive feature of the E-500. I just tossed it in the trunk, and took a look at the indicator color every week or two. It’s been a very rainy past few weeks here in NY, and the E-500 did a great job in eliminating a lot of the moisture that accumulated. After-rain odors were noticeably reduced. Once full, I plugged the unit in overnight, and it’s ready to go again in the morning.

One of the drawbacks with this model is that it is a bit heavy. At about 4 pounds, it can be problematic renewing the dehumidifier if your power outlet is not near the floor, or if you are not plugging it into a power strip. A recurring complaint with this unit is that due to its weight, it does not stay plugged into the wall outlet. There have been reports of the unit falling off the wall, breaking and spilling silica beads across the floor (relax, it’s non-toxic). I have thankfully not had this experience, but it is something to consider if you do not have a low to the floor outlet in which to plug the unit.

Overall, I have been pleased with the Eva-Dry E-500. With its convenience, performance, and affordable price in mind, I would urge anyone with minor moisture issues to invest in it.

If you’re in the market for an affordable dehumidifier , and want to try the Eva Dry E-500, consider buying it from our sponsor: http://www.digitalfotoclub.com/product-features.asp?id=964798077
