Leap Frog Leapster2 Learning Game System

Given the task to test the leapster2 Leaning game system I thought to myself, I know of two smart little people that would be perfect to test the unit. My niece Jazlyn 8 and nephew Andreas 6 are the biggest toy critics in the world!

Let’s start with the design of the unit bright beautiful color’s a green and blue combination made of sturdy plastic. The critics gave the game system two big thumbs up; Jazlyn mentioned the system colors are bright and bold. Andreas on the other had thinks the shape and design are cool and comfortable easily fitting his little hands.

The handheld requires four AA batteries which was very easy to install. Powering up the unit brings up a full color touch sensitive screen, displaying vibrant easy on the eyes colors. Navigating the startup menu was simple, allowing profiles for up to 3 children.

After a quick setup you are left with three options, play the pre-loaded games which I think is a nice add in value, go online or insert a game cartridge and play. Inserting and swapping the game cartridges was a simple task. Attaching the unit to the internet is done via usb cable which is supplied. Once connected to the leapfrog learning Path you are able get updates as well a track your child’s progress and see firsthand what their learning.

The Leapster has one drawback, which is minor in my opinion. The unit can save some files to limited storage memory you can use an SD card to expand the memory however a card is not included. Also with younger children a card so small can easily be lost. My testers were able to navigate the handheld system as well as the leapster little learner website with ease.

With a library of 40+ games, featuring many fun characters from cartoons and shows your child will be entertained and stimulated with many learning techniques i.e. Phonics skills, consonants, homophones and vowels. My testers had so much fun with the unit, from a parent perspective this game system is quiet simply a learning investment. Canon Pixma MX860 Office All-in-One Color Printer

I have a very small apartment, so you could imagine how limited my office space is. After countless hours of looking comparing and testing out all in one printers I have finally made a decision. The Canon pixma MX860 was my choice. Why Canon? Reputation, quality and most of all Price.

I won’t bore you with everything this all in one machine can do. I will give you the best of what it can do for my needs and the dreaded cons of how this machine could have been improved. Now scanning we all need a scanner, why? Backing up important documents to jpg. or pdf. Or editing photos etc. The scanners max res. is 2400×4800dpi with a color depth of 48/24 bits. Putting the scanner through its paces I scanned three high res photos into Photoshop with no problems. Very good color and sharpness reproduction.

After my photo chopping job was complete the big question of how well does this thing print was looming. After a couple of test prints and a final print to glossy photo paper. I was astonished. This machine performed the task not only with speed, but with much attention to detail and color. I decided to print out a word document right after and, the fonts were reproduced from pc to printer with crisp black detail. Two major selling points of this all in one was quality of print and scan, both of which I’m now sold on. A couple of added features to make life a bit easier are Memory card support, Wi-Fi/Ethernet, double sided scanning a 2.5 in lcd, two way paper feeding, and usb 2.0

I’m not going to bore you any more with details; I will share this last bit of information with you. This machine is heavy. Not two people to move heavy but it’s not light enough to move from one room to the next. I understand why the machine has some heft though; it packs in such great components for such a low cost, at retail I purchased this model for $158.95. Grab this all in one for your everyday needs while it still lasts, quality for a reasonable price is very hard to come by. Take my word for it and enjoy!
