Saving money and making the everyday essentials last longer is important now more than ever. Making sure you always have batteries readily available can be expensive. A likely scenario that i hassle with all the time is it always seems you need AAA you only have AA or vice versa. Renu-It has made an improvement on its previous models with the new RE02 Professional battery regenerator. Aside from charging Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries, it also charges alkaline disposable batteries.

The charger reconditions up to four AAA, AA, C, D and 9V batteries at a time, and can even recondition different sizes simultaneously. For extra safety measures it has overcharge, overheat and short-circuit protection. The RE02 even goes boldly enough to say it can charge up to 95% of the batteries original condition up to 70 times. Also features a digital LCD display screen to identify whether or not your batteries are OK or need to be charged.

Cons:

No off button

The only button or switch on the entire machine is to choose the type of battery (Ni-Cd, Ni-MH or Alkaline) which is a 3 way toggle switch. This means you are expected to put batteries in and take them out when there is power going to the unit. Granted you shouldn’t get enough of a charge from that to get electrocuted it still made me nervous when testing the product.

The Viatek RE02 Renu-It Pro Professional Battery Regenerator is a good item and I highly recommend it, but don’t expect to use the same pair of alkaline batteries you have now forever. In fact the only time I would use this on disposable batteries is to get one good usage out of them before you can get out to the store. Buying this item and some rechargeable batteries is my suggestion but not all items can run on rechargeable batteries because they don’t hold as much of a charge as disposables. So you ultimately need both and if you want to get a little extra life out of those expensive disposables, then I would definitely recommend this for any household.
